Recording in Nashua

This weekend we took a lil' trip up to Nashua, NH to record some new jams, mini-blizzard and the intense humming of my car's broken muffler be damned!
We worked again with our good friend Matt Girard in an old Mill building studio recently dubbed Bopnique 3.0. It's a nice sized space, covered in wood with an abundance of awesome vintage synths. The tracks will most likely be part of a full length in the coming year. Stay tuned!

Sinnet in the Christmas Spirit!

A Christmas Gift For You! Hop on over to bandcamp for our take on a holiday classic. It's been covered a zillion times, what's one more?

Recorded bedroom style in the Bonus Room with a little help from our pal Matthew Girard.

In true Spransy holiday style it's a hear at the last minute!

Sinnet with Jesus on the Mainline and Animal Years at Great Scott

SWEET SHOW ALERT! Next month we will be sharing the stage with Jesus on the Mainline, a fifteen piece rag-tag group of New York's finest young musicians led by GRAMMY-nominated musician Andrew Neesley. Andy and I go way back - all the way to Glendale, Wisco and Parkway Elementary...

The show will also feature Sinnet's new guitarist Tevo Christmann! We found Tevo roaming the streets of Allston - he's got some wicked licks, just you wait and see!

Will Emily make homemade cookies for the show? Will Jesus on the Mainline fit on such a puny little stage? YOU'LL HAVE TO COME AND SEE!!

New Single 'Pink Flamingo Hotels' Out Now!

We're pleased to announce the debut of of new single 'Pink Flamingo Hotels'! Recorded as part of Converse Rubber Tracks the origin of 'Flamingo' goes back many years and several bands - originally a Those Royals (Aaron and Mike's Milwauke based band) song.

Initial recording was done at Q Division with Matt Beaudoin. Then we took the song over to our buddy Matt Girard (Parks, Motion Sick, Neutral Uke Hotel) for some additional recording and mixing. Mastered by New Alliance East.

The song features some handy guitar work from fellow Those Royals ex-pat Jasen Kinart as well as our buddy Ryan Mercedes. Lastly, make sure to check out the Brian Eno trippin', ethereal introduction to the song.

Rubber Tracks / Seeking New Blood

Big thanks to Converse for having us at their Newbury Street location. We had a splendid time. We're also mightily close to finishing up one of the tracks we recorded with Converse at Q Division. More Deets on that soon!

We're on the lookout for some new creative blood, specifically a bad-ass GUITARIST and/or a KEYBOARDIST. If dig what we are putting down and want to give it a go please drop us a line at info@sinnetsongs.com

Our pal Michael Marotta was nice enough to help us premier our new video for 'Year of the Whale'. Filmed in Beverly, MA in a lil gym but Travis Gray. The video features a number of lovely little kiddies, some beautiful cinematography and a giant creature.
Head over to Vanyaland now to Check it Out:

Rubber Tracks / AS220

Things have been pleasantly busy in Sinnet-land. We were choosen by the lovely folks at Converse to participate in their Rubber Tracks program. Basically, we got to spend a day recording at Q Division and picked up some sweet kicks. There was plenty of nerding-out over their selection of gear and "drum porn". Needless to say we had a splendid time.

AS220_SM March brings us to Providence again with a show at AS220. We'll be sharing a bill with my old high school friend David's duo "Lists" along with local jammers The Brother Kite and Querent. It promises to be a awesome mixed bag of loveliness.

New Single - "Year of the Whale"

Whale_600 We are tickled pink to announce the release of our new single Year of the Whale!

'Year of the Whale' marks a step out of the bedroom recordings that are Sinnet's 'Midwest Manners' debut EP and into a proper studio. The cut recorded with local renaissance man Matthew A. Girard (Parks, Motion Stick, Neutral Uke Hotel) is no longer a solo affair featuring; John Drislane on drums and Marlo Pedroso on guitar.
Thematically, 'Whale' comes from a trying year when singer/songwriter Aaron Spransy's mother suddenly and unexpectedly passed away. Difficult times, coated in Melville-ian themes, and a few years allowed 'Whale' to rise to the surface. Enjoy!

Here's a little review Daykamp Music posted about it:

October is Here / We Heart The Replacements

Oct_13_Sinnet_FalconArrow_JQ The unmistakable chill and color of Fall is in the air and us gents of Sinnet are busy stirring up a delicious sonic stew to warm you up!

First, on Saturday Rocktober 13th Sinnet will be joined by two killer bands at PA's Lounge: Falcon Arrow , the bass and drum duo from Minneapolis, are back armed with crazy psych loops mashed with intercepted radio broadcast madness. Way BIG. As if that's not enough, we've finally lined up a show with the genre defying J/Q, another dynamic duo (bass/vocals, drum/synth) of spazz pop deliciousness. EPIC.

tallahassee For Halloween we decided to honor the lovely Minneapolis boys: The Replacements not once but twice. We'll be performing a selection of their best non-hits and conjuring up their infamous live performances at The Midway Cafe in JP on Friday, October 26th with Tallahassee. Then again on Saturday, October 27th at What We Talk About in Allston with—get this!—Guided By Voices! How awesome is that? Okay, so it's not the real GBV, but you probably won't even notice. We go on super early, at 7:00pm, so you can trick or treat, watch us play, and still shake it up at that costume ball afterwards! What can we say, we aim to please.

In other news, we've continued work on recording under the deft hands of Matt Girard.. You should hear the fat tone on the drums! We hope to have a new single out for you before winter hits, when (not to get too far ahead of ourselves) we will make our debut at Great Scott. We're gonna spank the tight jeans off the hip kid at the Pill. Save the date kiddos, you won't wanna miss this one: Friday November 30th.

Hello Fall Shows and Recording, We Love You...

Jaill_poster Okay, so it's a little sad to close the window on summer but, Sinnet has a brilliant fall taking shape and we thought we'd have little show and tell. So, put away them Speedos and bust out them sweaters!

This upcoming Sunday we're opening a show with some Milwaukee buds Jaill, who just released there second record on SubPop Records. This is our first show back since Summer Tour so we're extra eager to get out the jam. Then on Sept 22nd we'll make our first trip to Providence for a show with Lists the avant guarde project of Aaron's high school homie David Penn.

Lastly, September marks our first recording sessions as a whole band! We'll be laying down a handfull of songs with Mr. Matt Girard in his Arlington Studio. Keep an eye out for the fruits of our labor soon.

Home From Tour in One Piece

Wisconsin Dells! Our first tour is complete. We had a super splendid time, met some great folks and saw some old friends and family. Highlights include: a bad ass homecoming show at Cactus Club in Milwaukee, swimming at the bottom of a huge waterfall in Ithaca, NY and rock n' roll induced swamp ass at every show.

We'd like to sincerely thanks all of the folks that put us up, came out to shows, helped us book the tour, put food in our bellies and shared music with. A especially big thank you to Bob Gaszak for literally flying from the other side of the country to play bass with us!

Check out a buttload of photos here: PHOTOS
And some pleasant press:

We have a bunch of exciting things coming up including some rad fall shows, recording for the first time with the whole band and more!
